Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mindfulness Practitioner to develop a mindfulness provision across the four sites of University Hospitals Birmingham. This is a fixed term post for 12 months. The postholder will be responsible for the research, development, and implementation of mindfulness and other meditation provisions within Chaplaincy. They will extend the service that already exists at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to Heartlands, Good Hope, Solihull Hospitals, and community services.
The post holder will develop a strategy for mindfulness and meditation, working with divisions, specialities, and teams, to facilitate various forms of meditation, accounting for environment and context.
The aim is to enhance and support the wellbeing and resilience of staff working in this demanding yet rewarding context. The postholder will develop close collaboration with Chaplaincy, Inclusion and Well-being, Occupational Health and Clinical Psychology teams.
The postholder will be an experienced, qualified and BAMBA or equivalent registered practitioner and will report directly to the Chaplaincy Manager. There is an expectation that the postholder will also work closely with Research and Development colleagues and partners in the preparation of a robust evidence base, to be used in future business cases.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
As mindfulness Practitioners you will.
To develop a research base for the implementation of mindfulness and wellbeing practices within the Trust
Develop a strategy for mindfulness and meditation provision across all four sites and community services of the Trust, with divisions, specialities, and teams to facilitate various forms of meditation, accounting for environment and context.
To work closely with Chaplaincy Manager, Research and Development colleagues and Inclusion and Wellbeing colleagues, in investigating the nature of the demand for Mindfulness-based interventions for UHB staff, particularly on the Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites.
Provide taster-sessions in mindfulness-based interventions to staff on the Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites, drawing upon your expertise and experience in Mindfulness meditation, and either or both MBCT or MBSR.
Work closely with UHB's two Honorary Buddhist Chaplains and clinical teams to support, encourage and collaborate on mindfulness practice and review service provision on the QEHB site and to conduct an impact assessment of this work.
In partnership with Research & Development colleagues, the Chaplaincy Manager and current Honorary Buddhist Chaplains to maximise the outcome of the recent service evaluation to support development of strategy and future delivery of meditation methods.

Qualifications
Essential
*Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in mindfulness practice MBSR or MBCT.
*The post-holder will be in good standing within, and authorised, licensed, or sponsored by their faith / belief-specific background or community of practitioners as required by job role.
*University accredited Degree level theological training, teaching qualification (or equivalent) knowledge according to their mindfulness / spiritual tradition.
Experience
Essential
*Have experience in leading on and delivering mindfulness meditation to multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural staff groups within a variety of health and wellbeing context.
*Demonstrable experience in providing mindfulness within one's own tradition.
*Experience of the multi-cultural, religious, and spiritual dimensions of health care.
*Experience of dealing with some of the ethical issues that may arise in a healthcare setting.
*Strong understanding of their own mindfulness/spiritual tradition, with ability to articulate this clearly whilst respecting and working with those of differing traditions.
*Experience of working collaboratively within a team.
*Experience of teaching and training others.
*Active participant within their own faith / spiritual/ community of practitioners.
