Job summary

The Contracts Team is responsible for managing a diverse range of contracts across a range of healthcare organisations, including Integrated Commissioning Organisations and NHS England/Improvement. The Trust is now seeking applications for a Band 7 Senior Contracts Manager role from an experienced professional ideally with NHS experience who is looking for their next role. It is envisaged that the post holder will work on an exciting new project with HCA (a private insurer) in developing Service Level Agreements and the subsequent monitoring of the agreements.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Contracts Team, supporting the delivery of the overall aims and objectives of the Contract's department by undertaking a range of functions. This will include being responsible for a designated portfolio of contracts, which will involve negotiation, agreement, monitoring and management of these contracts. The post holder will also be responsible for a portfolio of work stream activities and projects, for example procurement projects. The successful candidate will need excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills as part of this role.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The main duties of the job (and Training role) will be related to the management of the Trust's Contracts and Service Level Agreements with Commissioners.

*Negotiation, agreement and management within an agreed framework and in line with Trust Board-approved financial timescales and legal requirements.

*Ensuring all contractual paperwork is up-to-date and in line with departmental, Trust, Local Healthcare economy and National policy Involved in the negotiation, production and management of the Trust's Service Level Agreements.

*Leading on the development of Service Level Agreements from start to finish with HCA including Service Specifications, Quality and Performance Reporting Schedules, Financial Flows etc. and the subsequent monitoring of the agreements on behalf of the Trust.

The successful candidate will possess:

*Strong knowledge of NHS Contracts and the Contracting Process in the NHS.

*Persuasive Communication skills to describe complex and sensitive information both verbally and in writing

*Highly developed Negotiation and Influencing skills.

*A high level of numeracy and strong knowledge of computer based software packages.

*Excellent Organisation and Time-Management skills and a keen attention to detail.

*Degree Graduate level

*Evidence of evidenced ongoing Continuing Professional Development.

*Training in Microsoft Access and Excel to an advanced level or evidence of equivalent knowledge.

*Experience of the Commissioning Process.

*A good understanding of the Contracting and Performance Management Processes in the NHS.

*Understanding of NHS Policy, including the NHS Operating Framework, key targets, and the NHS financial and commissioning processes including Patient Choice...

*Ability to manage and deliver multiple complex projects within agreed timeframes.

*Ability to work without supervision, providing specialist advice to the organisation, working to tight and often changing timescales.

*Highly computer literate with software packages including MS Access, Excel and Word.
