Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of services for the paediatric speech and language and paediatric occupational therapy and its delivery across the Solihull area. The post would suit and experienced speech and language or occupational therapist with an experience of management of teams and services who is looking for a new challenge.

Solihull Community Services serves a population of 200,000 and we see and treat children between the ages of 0-16/18 years old in a variety of settings. Working in the UHB Therapies Directorate, you will be responsible for strategic development and operational management of both teams and be accountable for the delivery of operational performance targets (finance, activity, workforce and quality/safety). You will have the skills to support the teams to adhere to local and national standards relevant to the service and also to work with partners across Health and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to develop a joint approach in relation to supporting children with SEND in the borough. As post holder you will work with the other Clinical Team Leads in Children's Community Therapy Services in order to give consistent support to clinical staff, and share management of the admin & clerical team. You will support the wider Therapies teams' 7-day working as part of the management weekend working rota. The Clinical Team Lead is well supported by other CTLs and senior management staff in the Therapies Directorate.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will be responsible for the operational delivery of high quality Therapy services for patients within the clinical team.

Effectively manage all services for which they have responsibility, within available resources. The Therapy services are Dietetics, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy, and includes all registered Therapists, nurses, support workers and administrative staff within the clinical team

Direct the resources of the clinical teams appropriately to prioritise areas as necessary to meet the Trusts objectives

To lead and participate in clinical activity within the clinical team as is needed to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the clinical team. Clinical activity will be determined by the post holder in conjunction with their line manager and is envisaged to be a flexible and wide ranging interpretation of the activities necessary to address the clinical needs of the patients supported by the team.

Working with the Clinical Service Lead and Therapy Leads, support and facilitate staff to innovate and improve services to meet the needs of patients whilst ensuring the provision of seamless services that addresses the Sustainability Transformation Plans/Partnership of our population

Working in partnership with other Therapists to lead integrated teams and with other service providers, partners and commissioners to develop collaborative, integrated systems of work.

Relevant AHP Degree specific to role

Evidence of continuous professional development

Clinical qualification at degree level or equivalent

Current professional registration

Experience

Significant management experience within the NHS

Extensive clinical experience in a clinical area relevant to the team

Significant experience working as part of an MDT

Able to demonstrate experience of patient and public engagement

Able to demonstrate experience of operational management knowledge and skills

Track record of delivering services with national and local targets

Managing programmes of organisational change that have led to tangible improvements

Multi-disciplinary team leadership

Demonstrates excellent clinical service provision relevant to post and commensurate with grade

Demonstrates knowledge of interdisciplinary working
