Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience in Research, Sexual Health and HIV at UHB.

UHB works with a range of academic, health services and commercial companies to improve the delivery of high quality sexual and reproductive healthcare through:

*a program of health care services research

*increasing research capacity within the field of sexual health and HIV

*contributing to the research and teaching programmes within local universities

*supporting the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network

*The post offers the opportunity to learn about the practicalities of approaching patients for participation in research studies. Managing research participants' care within the research programme, in collaboration with their clinical team.

*You will have the opportunity to further develop excellent interpersonal communication, organisation, time management, documentation skills and work with more experienced researchers.

The major themes of the unit focus on sexual health service delivery and HIV. This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week, cross site working, substantive post, based at Whittall Street. Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will be responsible for delivering an agreed portfolio of clinical trials, and for ensuring compliance with EU and UK regulatory requirements for the conduct of research and promote the benefits of research, working closely with the clinical services.

The post holder will assess, plan implement and evaluate and clinical trials and access support to deliver clinical trials within their portfolio. The role involves liaising with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to implement and manage trial protocols to ensure a high quality of data collection, ensuring patient safety and welfare.

The post holder may be required to work independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions.

The post holder will deputise for the Senior Research Sister/Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

Essential

*Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register 

Experience

Essential

*Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff

*Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD

*Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration

*Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff

*Experience of mentoring undergraduate students

*Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department

*Experience in learning from incidents/complaints and supporting changes in practice.
