Band 4 – Digital Communications Assistant

The closing date is 16th Oct 2022

Job summary

Do you have a passion for great online user experience and a keen eye for detail? We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Digital Communications Assistant to help us improve and maintain our website, intranet and other digital channels.

You'll need to be able to work well on your own, as well as working with the rest of the Web Team to deliver high-quality digital material, often to a tight deadline. From building a landing page or micro-site, to writing an email bulletin; from proof reading documents, to designing images for social media -- this is a varied and challenging role, requiring a range of skills and offering lots of opportunities for development.

Our friendly team will help you to settle in to this fast-paced environment in no time. We'll give you lots of help to develop your skills, including regular training days, but we also look forward to learning from your knowledge and experience.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

You'll have a minimum HND in Web Design or equivalent, as well as a sound working knowledge of computing and web development. You'll also need to keep up with continually changing software packages and coding techniques, including CSS, HTML and related scripting languages, frameworks and libraries.

You'll be required to display a good understanding of user experience design, web accessibility and writing for the web, and your levels of written English and comprehension must be excellent.

As well as being able to generate high-quality copy, you must also be able to proof and edit text provided by colleagues.

As a creative thinker with a flair for visually appealing content, you'll be proficient in design packages like Illustrator and Photoshop, and ideally be able to use UX design tools like Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD.

To support our colleagues in the Communications team, you may be asked to help with content generation and management on our social media accounts, so a good understanding of social media and best practice principles for its use would be beneficial.

Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varying workload are essential qualities in this challenging role.

An understanding of communications in the NHS or commercial experience in a related field will be a bonus.
