Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join the Division 2A management team, within the Respiratory services team. The post holder will be joining the Division at an exciting time where we are focused on our recovery, working on new opportunities to improve our services and overall experience for our patients. This role will have operational responsibility for their Specialty at one or more of the UHB sites; this comprises the delivery of the Early Supported Discharge, Virtual wards and key flow metrics within the Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic Surgery specialties.

The role demands excellent prioritisation skills, problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach. You will have experience in management/leadership with an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of working operationally in an NHS environment.

You will need to be resilient, flexible to changing daily priorities and remain calm under pressure. In return you will receive an excellent support network, training opportunities and a real chance to excel within a highly motivated team.

The role will provide an insight into multiple pathways and exposure to senior management teams offering an ideal opportunity for development into a senior operational role.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The Operations Manager is responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals Birmingham, leading by example and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in their leadership behaviours and how we support our teams and deliver our services. The Operations Manager is responsible for delivering the Trust's Strategy, within their area of responsibility, incorporating the following:

Ensuring the standardisation of services across all relevant sites to the best possible level, so that all of our patients experience equally high quality care;

Lead on the planning, development and delivery of multi-site services to ensure that there is a common understanding of capacity and demand with clear operational plans to deliver the best in care in the most appropriate settings;

Leading the development of a sustainable workforce that is fit for the future within their area of responsibility;

Working with system partners to put in place clinical pathways that care for patients in the most appropriate settings, and reducing inappropriate or avoidable demand for acute services.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of operational performance within their allocated areas of the Division whilst maintaining quality standards and for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of good governance arrangements
