Job summary

Due to the expansion of services within the Trust, we are excited to announce that we have posts available for Band 5 Occupational Therapists. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our expanding therapy team, of dynamic and passionate clinicians

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is a Major Trauma centre and boasts a wide variety of specialist services, offering a variety of options for Band 5 Occupational Therapists on rotation. As we are a University Hospital, we promote an environment for learning key skills for practice and professional development. You will have the opportunity to experience rotations within the areas of Major Trauma, Acute Medicine, Specialist Surgery, Oncology & Haematology, Intensive Care, Health care for Older People, Stroke and Neurosciences. The rotation also includes the opportunity to work off-site at the Norman Power Unit, an enhanced assessment unit run by UHB.

You will have access to regular clinical supervision, support to complete the preceptorship programme, and a range of CPD opportunities including in-house training.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

We would expect applicants to have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and the ability to work autonomously. Applicants should demonstrate core prioritisation skills and demonstrate client centred practice, work well within a multi-professional team and have the ability to work holistically for the benefit of your patients. Organisational and time management skills are essential for this role. You should provide evidence of relevant courses and training as well as commitment to ongoing CPD. You should have relevant clinical experience specific to the post, and you will need to have experience of working within the Acute NHS environment.

Essential

*BSc in Occupational Therapy / Diploma in Occupational Therapy

*Current registration with the HCPC.

*A levels or equivalent qualification

*Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

*Evidence of CPD

*Member of RCOT

Experience

Essential

*Demonstrates relevant clinical experience within an NHS Acute setting.

*Demonstrates clinical knowledge and awareness relevant to the Acute Trust.

*Demonstrates an experience and understanding of the importance of team working.

*Demonstrates a knowledge of OT processes & treatment Planning

*Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of Clinical Governance

*Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
