Job summary
We are looking for an ambitious candidate to join our dynamic team based 5 minute walk from 5 ways train station. The role offers flexible working hours with the option for hybrid working.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude to personal development as they must be willing and able to follow a course of study to complete professional CCAB or equivalent qualification.
Strong communication skills are a prerequisite for this role due to the need to negotiate and resolve invoice queries with external parties as well as explaining any unresolved invoice queries.
The post holder will also need to present complex information to the Credit Control team in order to support the management of the sales ledger and aid cash allocation.
A key requirement is the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a concise, confident and accurate manner giving due regard to confidentiality. The post entails regular communications with a variety of people including group managers, senior nurses and also external customers and suppliers.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The post-holder will provide a transactional Finance Management service to the Income Accountant. This will encompass the raising of all invoices for contract and non-contract activity, ensuring that the General Ledger is reconciled to the sales ledger for each customer account and also taking responsibility for the management of resulting queries from Non Contract Commissioners.
A key part of this role will involve the management of Non Contract Activity (NCA) ensuring that all invoices are raised timely and accurately and any resulting queries are resolved in order to recover the associated income. This will also involve ensuring that the General Ledger is appropriately maintained and that all ledger codes are reconciled.
The post-holder will need to display a professional approach at all times and take ownership of the quality of financial information delivered to Trust management. The post-holder should be able to identify areas of process that require improvement and suggest options for delivering improvements
The role requires a high level of numeracy and a working knowledge of computer based software packages. The post-holder is required to translate complex numerical data and technical concepts in a meaningful way to non-finance staff.

Qualifications
Essential
High Standard of General Education (to A Level or equivalent at a minimum).
5 GCSEs Grade A-C including Maths & English.
The post holder must be willing and able to follow a course of study to complete professional CCAB or equivalent qualification.
Experience
Essential
Experience of analysing, interpreting and presenting complex financial data and producing robust forecasts.
Experience of management accounting processes
Experience of providing training and support to others in own specialist area.
Evidence of planning and organising tasks required to achieve a specific outcome within a specified timeframe, without direction from line manager.
Demonstrate an appreciation of NHS Structure, policy, functions and systems.
Demonstrate an appreciation of data analysis and quality principles and practice.
Desirable
Awareness of the NHS Financial Framework, Tariff policy and Patient Choice.
Awareness of NHS dataflows and supporting data definitions as set out by NHS Digital.
Familiarity with computerised finance systems; including ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets and databases.
