Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an Undergraduate Coordinator to provide administrative support for our Undergraduate Department.

Reporting to the Undergraduate Manager, the Coordinators' role is to work closely alongside the Undergraduate team within the Clinical Teaching Academy.

The successful candidate will possess good organisational and administrative skills along with an ability to communicate with all levels of staff within the Trust to include students, patients and consultants. General duties will also include managing databases, filing and other ad-hoc duties to ensure the smooth running of the Undergraduate office.

The role requires the post holder to support medical students during their placements at Heartlands Hospital and to ensure that their teaching is arranged and delivered, timetables are up-to-date and that they are provided with all they need during their placement.

Travel across all UHB sites may be required at times to cover.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder is responsible for the provision of administrative arrangements for Medical Undergraduate education and teaching programmes for the students on placement within the University Hospital Birmingham.

They will be responsible for the administration of specific subject block placements and year placements. The post holder will work closely with the other Undergraduate Co-ordinators within the team to ensure the provision of a high standard of teaching and support for the medical students while on placement in the Trust.

To co-ordinate the provision of an induction for students on their first day of placement including the provision of information packs for each student, to include timetables, general information, lecture programme and teaching firm details.

To co-ordinate and administer a relevant programme of lectures and teaching for students during their placement.

To establish and maintain good working relationships and effective communications with other Trust departments used by the students, e.g. Clinical Skills, Libraries, Postgraduate Education and medical secretaries.

To administer any student assessments during and at the end of the placements such as examination sessions
