Job summary

UHB have an exciting opportunity for an accredited & experienced Colposcopy Nurse specialist to join out friendly team. you will lead our colposcopy nursing service. The roles includes overseeing the delivery of high quality, safe & effective care, lead on improving the outcomes & experienced for patients using the service at UHB.

You will need to be well motivated, enthusiastic, flexible & experienced in colposcopy. if this is you we would love to hear from you.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Duties include leading & co-ordinating the colposcopy service at UHB. maintaining national standards for patient safety & clinical practice, including writing and reporting national reports. Ensure key performance indicators are achieved. Ensure the development & delivery of the cervical screening service is met in accordance with NHS England Service specifications.

Provide clinical & professional advice at CDG level.

The post holder must have extensive theoretical & practical experience of the clinical skills required to run independent nurse led clinics.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

*Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register.

*MSc or equivalent CATs in speciality associated subject -- to include assessment at Level 7

*Professional knowledge acquired through post graduate degree / supplemented by specialist training , experience, short courses to master's level equivalent

*Non-Medical Prescribing Course or willingness to undertake where this is a requirement of the role

Desirable

*Advanced Life Support qualification

Experience

Essential

*Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

*Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment

*Extensive post registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Band 7 or above in defined or associated speciality

*Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level

*Experience of delivering change management both personally and as a facilitator

*Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence.

*Demonstrate expert knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality

*Experience and enthusiasm for developing educational programmes and teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting.

*Experience in service development

*Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment

*Experience of patient service user advocacy role

*Experience of resource and budgetary management

*Experience of leading on the writing / updating of organisational Policy / Procedure / Guidelines associated with the speciality /field Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess, plan , implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff

*Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality and can translate this in to local practice reflected in organisational policy / procedure and service delivery

*Has understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding

*Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance

*Competent in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required.

*Knowledge of current evidence based practice and ability to apply to service and policy development

*Ability to lead and manage a team
