New Theatre services activity will transfer into the newly refurbished unit which will bring together diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment services under one roof across 4 clinical areas.

Applicants who are successfully recruited to this post may commence their induction / employment on other sites prior to transferring to the unit to ensure all training requirements are met.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

In return you will be expected to provide an excellent service of decontaminated Flexible scopes for very busy clinics and our patients. The role will require you to manually process and test Flexible's scopes (manual dexterity is required on these types of medical devices), operate endoscopy washer disinfector machines, use a software tracking system, undertake physical exertion such as prolong standing some bending/lifting and deliver clean scopes to some clinical areas using storage cabinets. You will be required to be reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated. You will need to understand the importance of excellent customer service and team working. You will be required to always put into practice the training that you receive which will be specific to the role and includes awareness of infection control and how the flexible scope/medical device are designed and used. You will come into regular contact with our clinical colleagues and therefore you will be a good ambassador by always demonstrating Trust values, showing empathy and respecting confidentiality. The Senior Decontamination Lead post is 37.5 hours, and all staff are rostered to work Saturday and Sundays. The Senior Decontamination Lead will be required to carry out the full duties in the Central Decontamination unit which is monitored by our Quality Standard and may be required work across sites at Goodhope Hospital and Solihull.

Qualifications

Essential

*Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (E)

*NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience in an administration environment (E)

Desirable

*NVQ (Technical Decontamination Certificate) or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through

decontamination training (D)

Experience

Essential

*Knowledge of dealing with non-routine queries (E)

*Good communication/ customer care skills both written and verbal demonstrating empathy and compassion. (E)

*Good organisational skills/ can multitask (E)

*Ability to deal professionally with all levels of staff, patients and visitors. (E)

*Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality and apply the principles to everyday working. (E)

Desirable

*Able to advise users of technical and decontamination information as required. (D)

*Working in an acute Trust with wide knowledge of different types of Endoscopes. (D)

Additional Criteria

*Ability to work on a rota that covers weekend and Bank holidays.

*Ability to work/ travel across all UHB sites as required by the job role.
