Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology nurse to work at the forefront of clinical treatment delivery in our cellular therapies team as a coordinator within our cellular therapies team delivering CAR-T and Autologus pathways.

You will

* Have significant experience of caring for haematology patients

* Be prepared to deliver high standards of care, be well organised and an excellent communicator

* Support patients throughout the cellular therapies pathways

* Develop relationships with the inpatient wards, day unit and referring centres

* develop teaching skills and support the delivery of our cellular therapies educational program

* Work as part of a close team, escalate concerns and advocate for patients

* Be able to make decisions, work independently and feedback to the team

* Be supported by the team, lead nurse, Matron and Consultants

* Be part of a national network of nurses, building relationships, sharing practice as part of EBMT nurses CAR-T groups

Main duties, tasks & skills required

* Work within a team

* Co-ordinate care including in patient, out patient and ambulatory pathways

* Maintain excellent records

* Support the team with service improvement by collecting audit data

* Support patients in clinics

* Ensure effective communications with external organisations, Trusts, and Registries

* deliver education strategies

* Maintain team working within JACIE standards

* Support management and medical teams with delivery of JACIE accredited care

* Support positive patient experience

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration

* Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6

Desirable

* To have or work towards advanced health assessment module

Experience

Essential

* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

* Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for cellular therapies

Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence

* Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to Haematology/ cellular therapies.

* Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting

* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment

* Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC

Desirable

* Experience in service development

* Experience in caring for acute and terminally ill patients

Additional Criteria

Essential

* Ability to explain the requirement to balance clinical caseload and developing skills, knowledge and competence

* Willingness to achieve competence in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices

* Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance

* Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances

* Ability to work a varied shift pattern where required and ability to work across UHB sites or off site in NHS premises where required

* Car Driver

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work autonomously as part of the MDT.

* Ability to prioritise workload.

* Able to work flexibly to meet needs of client group

Desirable

* Cellular therapy reinfusion competency

* Chemotherapy competency

* Risk assessments- DATIX

* Experience in cannulation and venepuncture

* Good counselling skills
