Job summary

In July 2024, the landscape of elective surgery will be transformed for the residents of Birmingham and Solihull with the opening of a dedicated elective surgical hub at Solihull hospital.

Building on best practice nationally, this hub will provide a unique opportunity to shape and deliver therapy provision in pathways which promote patient engagement. If you are seeking the chance to work in an innovative setting, we have the role for you.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self motivated Physiotherapists to join our inpatient team, with a clinical focus on therapeutic intervention in supporting patients requiring elective surgery including patients managed in our enhanced perioperative care (EPOC) pathway.

Do you have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate both your team and patients? We have an ideal post for you.

Our ethos is to ensure that our patients are able to access the full range of therapy expertise to ensure they gain optimum functional recovery and you will take a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the therapy service for this pathway.

You will work alongside a dynamic team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy support workers as well as the multiprofessional team. As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for your own cases within your clear and defined area- allowing you to practice with confidence with the knowledge of support from the clinical lead.

Participation in the department respiratory physiotherapy overnight on call system, 7 day working rota and evening working will be a requirement to provide the best care for our patients.

Qualifications

Essential

*Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent

*Degree in Physiotherapy

*Registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist

*Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area

Experience

Essential

*Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post

*Experience of effective staff management and leadership

*Experience of management of adults within specialist area of practice

*Experience of Physiotherapy students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels

*Experience of leading audit

*Experience of training staff groups at all levels

*Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multi-disciplinary teams and across agencies
