It would be desirable for the ideal candidate to have some Neurology and/or Research knowledge/experience, although all research specific training will be provided with a bespoke and comprehensive professional development plan to help you progress your career within this busy Trust. Main duties, tasks & skills required

This role will provide regular contact with patients and involve research that will make a real difference to future patient care. We undertake clinical trials that look at, for example, new/re-purposed medicinal products or devices, comparisons of different interventions, quality of life, and genetics/lifestyle. The well-being and safety of our research participants is at the heart of all we do, as is our confidence that the data we provide is accurate and reproducible.

As a Neurology Research nurse you will be involved in all stages of the Research process, including but not limited to, set-up of studies, patient identification and recruitment, delivering research protocols, safety reporting and data management.

To be shortlisted for this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

* Level 1 RN, with substantial experience at Band 5 in a clinical setting

* Mentoring qualification, or equivalent experience

* Ability to lead or coordinate a clinical shift or area of department

* Competence or a willingness to become competent in extended roles ie venepuncture

* Excellent communication skills

* Ability to articulate the principles of safeguarding and mental capacity

* Ability to work under pressure across competing demands

* Demonstrate knowledge, experience, passion in the following:

- Leadership

- Team Building

- Change management / service improvement

* Previous Research/Neurology experience is desirable, but not essential.

* Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register (E)

* Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration

* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff ( E )

* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD (E )

* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff (E )
