Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Educator within the Out of Hospital services, Division 7 at UHB. You will have the opportunity to work within our exciting, innovative new services being developed to prevent unnecessary hospital admission as well as supporting our existing Community teams and bedded units.

We are looking for an experienced individual who is enthusiastic and motivated to join our team. You should have a genuine interest in education and developing others with a desire to develop your own teaching skills.

The role will include delivering education across Solihull Community sites, Norman Power and Homeward Unit, Good Hope Hospital. You will be providing multi-professional education in addition to providing pastoral and clinical support to our preceptees within the clinical area. This post requires the successful applicant to be self-motivated, with excellent organisational skills, a strong team working ethic and evidence of continuing professional development. Experience of providing education and support within a clinical environment is essential.

We are looking for an individual who has the skills to meet the fundamental requirements of the role, are positive and enthusiastic attitude, supportive, flexible, well organised and hard working.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Working under the management of the Lead Clinical Educator, the post holder will work in collaboration with healthcare colleagues and educators to ensure the clinical education and development needs of the Nursing, and Allied Health Professional workforce are identified and addressed using approved, proven and credible methods. The post holder will be a visible role model, providing clinical support and practical guidance to clinical teams and departments.

The post holder will Co-ordinate the delivery of evidence-based education and training, plan, develop, deliver and evaluate educational training programmes, lectures and study days. There is a requirement to work clinically alongside staff at all levels to facilitate the professional development in accordance with their role in addition to providing pastoral support to registered and non-registered clinical staff particularly those within their preceptorship period and new to care non-registered health care professionals.

The post holder will be required to have the ability to act on own initiative, communicate articulately, work well in a team and have excellent time management. Must be willing to develop competence in a range of skills and expanded practices relevant to the practise settings for the post in addition to educating and supervising others.
