Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse, AHP or midwifery professional to lead the development and progression of high quality support to our pre-registration nursing, AHP and midwifery students in the Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the School's commitment to education excellence across its pre-registration education portfolio. The Head of Pre-registration Education is responsible for developing long-term strategies to transform the pre-registration student experience to enable the Trust to become the preferred employer in the region and beyond, developing effective innovative solutions as organisationally required.

A key aspect of the post is to work collaboratively with our university partners in developing student placement capacity to accommodate students whilst promoting the best student experience in the region. The post holder will provide strategic leadership to successfully develop and continuously evaluate the initiation of the Learner Led Clinical Learning Environments and other placement innovations across the organisation.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Reporting to the Deputy Head of School and accountable to the Head of School, the successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership to the pre-registration team to enable them to offer and support an excellent student experience. The key skills required are:

*Set out the practical and theoretical vision for an excellent student experience under the School.

*Lead organisational and cultural change through the development and delivery of the Learner Led Clinical Learning Environment (LLE) and other innovations across the organisation in collaboration with university partners, staff, students, and relevant external partners.

*Champion excellence in student experience by creating innovative approaches to student placement capacity and supporting groundbreaking placement pathways.

*Interpret and analyse intelligence/data against education and training pathways in line with national standards and priorities set by DHSC and NHSE.

*Strengthen the reputation of the School and Trust by effective collaboration between pre-registration education, regulatory bodies and key stakeholders.

Essential

*Masters degree or equivalent experience

*Formal teaching qualification (PGCE)

*Registered NHS professional (i.e. Nurse, Midwife, AHP)

*Project/Programme Management Qualification

*Experience of working in an Education role and at a Senior Manager level within the NHS and/or Accredited Education Institute/NHS provider organisation.

*Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating education placement-based programmes.

*Detailed understanding of the pre-registration education agenda including its scope, structure, methods of operation, processes and inter-relationships.

*Detailed understanding of pre-registration education curriculum design and development in line with national policy and professional, statutory and regulatory bodies frameworks.

*Understanding of the current NHSE Workforce Training and Development agenda from a quality and workforce development perspective.

*Experience of developing governance frameworks to support education commission, quality and performance.

*Experience of writing business cases.

*Experience of developing papers and supporting formal sub-committees.
