If yes, we are developing exciting opportunities within our Band 6 posts at Good Hope and Heartlands Hospitals; we have static and fixed term contracts available. Areas to include: Health Care of Older People, Medicals, OPAL therapy to include working in the Emergency Department, Short stay areas.

The post holder could already be a Band 6 wishing for a change or are you currently an experienced Band 5 who would like to practice in a variety of clinical areas at a more senior level. We welcome applications from those who wish to join our friendly supportive therapy teams at our hospitals.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

With training and development you will provide Physiotherapeutic assessment, management and rehabilitation of patients in a variety of clinical areas. Working in a variety of teams that consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers.

Your responsibilities will be varied and challenging, however, being able to multi task in an effective manner whilst maintaining a caring approach.

Required to participate in the seven day working programmes across the organisation, and demonstrate flexibility to work in a variety of shift patterns.

MAIN DUTIES

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. To participate in the site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours service once training has been provided and deemed competent.

To assist with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, junior therapy staff and students.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

*Diploma / degree in physiotherapy.

*Current registration with Health Care Professions Council.

*A levels or equivalent qualification

*Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

*Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

Desirable

*Evidence of leadership training.

*Attendance at Clinical Educators Course. *

Experience

Essential

*Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.

*Significant experience of working in an acute hospital setting including acute hospital experience in a broad variety of clinical areas

*Experience of team/service development.

*Experience of working on a respiratory physiotherapy on-call service, to include non-invasive ventilation knowledge.

*Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student physiotherapists and assistants.

*A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy.

*Good understanding of working in an Acute Hospital Trust.

*Understanding of current legislation and application to Physiotherapy.

*Ability to take part in respiratory on-call rota

*Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within the clinical area.
