B6/7 Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist- with an Interest in CRM ( Development)

The Good Hope Department has a large device service, implanting and following up patients with CRT, CRTD and ICD devices.

1.Provide specialist Clinical Cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to inpatients and outpatients of all ages from a wide range of specialities.

2.Undertake clinical interpretation of results and provision of reports.

3.Support senior colleagues in the day-to-day organisation and running of the department, deputising in their absence.

4.Provide CPD, education, training and assessment of Clinical Physiologists (Cardiology) and other professionals.

5.Provide advice to clinicians and colleagues in specialist area

6.To act as a role model for junior staff

Main duties, tasks & skills required

1.Perform specialised Cardiac Physiology investigations and interventions including:

2.Advanced physiological testing during pacemaker, CRT-P and ICD/CRT-D implantation and follow-up with analysis of complex data and diagnostic information. Prescription and evaluation of device therapy and programming ensuring individualised device optimisation.

Additionally, perform a broad range of clinical investigations undertaken within the Cardiac Physiology Service including, but not limited to:

3.Performance, analysis, and interpretation of resting ECGs.

4.Manage physiologist-led Exercise Tolerance Testing

5.Holter application

6.Holter analysis (including complex pacemakers/implantable devices)

7.Cardiac catheterisation (including complex cases)

8.Permanent pacemaker and implantable loop recorder implantation and follow-up

9.Assist with tilt testing (physiologist led) -- Currently performed at another site.

10.Actively working toward or keen to work toward BHRS/IBHRE Accreditation.

11.Provide interpretation and reports of own investigations, using discretion and judgement to seek further advice or review as necessary within an appropriate timeframe.

Qualifications

Essential

BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) or Masters in Cardiac Science

Highly specialist knowledge of Clinical Physiology in at least one area to Masters level or equivalent (Echocardiography or Devices).

IBHRE/BHRS accreditation

RCCP Registered

ILS/ALS Resuscitation certified

Desirable

Training/Assessor's qualification

ASCST/MSCST

Experience

Essential

Experience and scientific knowledge through formal study, training and practice in highly complex and specialized Cardiac investigations.

Supervisory experience.

Experience in the use of PCs and data entry.

Experience of Cardiology IT storage systems.

Desirable

Health and Safety knowledge and experience.

Research experience
