Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology nurse to work at the forefront of clinical treatment delivery in our cellular therapies team as a clinical nurse specialist focusing on CAR-T delivery and post infusion care.

You will

* Have significant experience of caring for haematology patients

* Be prepared to lead the coordinator team to deliver high standards of care

* Support day to day management of the team

* Support patients throughout the cellular therapies pathway

* Work with the existing Band 7 CNS and Lead Nurse to deliver late effects and follow up nurse led clinics

* Develop relationships with the inpatient wards and national referral centres

* Have opportunities to develop teaching skills and support the delivery of our cellular therapies educational program

* Work as part of a close team, escalate concerns and advocate for patients

* Be able to make decisions, work independently and feedback to the team

* Have a vision for service development

* Be supported by the team, lead nurse, Matron and Consultants

There will be opportunities to

* Expand knowledge and skills

* Explore professional development opportunities in clinical and management skills

* Be part of a national network of nurses, building relationships, sharing practice as part of EBMT nurses CAR-T groups

Main duties, tasks & skills required

This post can be delivered as a development opportunity at band 6 working towards band 7 or at band 7 dependent on experience.

Initially this is a fixed term post for 12 months, but likely to be substantiated.

Main Duties:

* Lead a team of co-ordinators

* Co-ordinate pre and post-infusion care including in and out patient pathways

* Support patients in clinics

* Ensure effective communications with external organisations, Trusts, and Registries

* Develop and deliver education strategies

* Maintain team working within JACIE standards

* Support management and medical teams with delivery of JACIE accredited care

* Support positive patient experience

Qualifications

Essential

* Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register (Field dependent upon role )

* Evidence of post registration CPD / Post registration qualification in ( appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7

* To have or work towards advanced health assessment module.

* Non -- Medical Prescriber/ willingness to undertake with timescale as agreed by manager

Desirable

* To have or working towards a MSc/ master's qualification

* Recognised mentorship course

* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

* Significant years post registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or B6 in Bone marrow Transplant unit.

* Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level

* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence

* Demonstrate expert knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality

* Experience and enthusiasm for developing educational programmes and teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting

* Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment

* Experience of patient service user advocacy role

* Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff

* Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality

* Has understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding

* Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance

Desirable

* Experience of delivering change management both personally and as a facilitator

* Experience in service development

* Awareness of current research related to the service.

* Presentation skills/ Public speaking

* Ability to explain the requirement to balance clinical caseload

* Ability to communicate with a wide range of health care professionals, on a variety of complex and sensitive issues which require persuasive and empathetic skills.

* Ability to work autonomously , manage / prioritise own workload , supervise / appraise and asses junior staff

* Competent in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required

* Ability to work under pressure across competing priorities

* Ability to, undertake clinical audit , analyse information and develop robust measureable action plans to support improvement / change

* Evidence of ability to compile reports and documents for internal / external communication

* Knowledge of current evidence based practice and ability to apply to service and policy development

* To be proficient in the use of IT systems-including use of emails.
