Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Sister/Charge Nurse for Ambulatory Care and the Discharge Lounge within the Ambulatory Care services at QEHB.

Ambulatory Care has 55 trolley spaces for day case surgery and 24 overnight beds for short stay surgery as well as accommodating medical patients. Discharge Lounge accommodates patients from the whole hospital who are ready for discharge.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

As a band 6 you will be responsible for co-ordinating within the Discharge Lounge and on Ambulatory Care, as well as being in charge for the overnight patients on Ambulatory Care. You will be supporting the Senior Sister within your area. Other duties includes audits, staff allocations, conducting appraisals, communicating with various members of the workforce, allocating patient beds, mentoring junior staff and students and attend meetings.

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register

NMC professional portfolio certificates

Experience

Substantial 12 months post

registration experience working

in a complex health care setting

/ Acute NHS care setting

supervising / mentoring junior

staff

Can demonstrate understanding

/ experience / willingness to be a

practice based supervisor /

assessor as detailed in the

Nursing & Midwifery Council (

NMC ) standards for student

supervision and assessment

Professional portfolio which

demonstrates continuing
