Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UHB Clinical Education team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take up the post of Associate Technician - Clinical Education

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical support within the clinical education centres and any satellite facility utilised. This includes the set up, break down and maintenance of equipment for new and existing courses within clinical skills, resuscitation and immersive simulation across a number of sites and training rooms.

The role will involve the use of anatomical models, computer based simulators, audio-visual equipment and varying medical and surgical equipment. The post holder will ensure effective utilisation of resources under the direction of the Lead Technicians.

The post holder will work closely with educators and lead technicians to ensure that all booked training sessions are appropriately facilitated in line with the schedule of activity whilst providing a front line service dealing effectively and efficiently with all visitors and equipment enquiries.

The department operates across all trust sites and the post holder will be expected to travel to different locations, where their role requires them to do so.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will set up the equipment and additional training resources necessary for each scheduled core skills training session in line with work rota. This includes ensuring that correct disposables and sufficient supplies are available during courses and that the amounts of each provided are in line with the operating procedure

In addition they will respond to equipment loan requests and ensure equipment that is to be loaned is in good condition and calibrated according to user specification

They are to ensure each piece of equipment is fit for use and meets the supplier safety recommendations, liaising with suppliers as required

Working with the Lead technician, review, report and control all stock levels of equipment, disposables, and refreshments to ensure that minimal levels are observed and all activity is fully supported. Order replacement stock and equipment using NHS Logistics and SAGE ordering systems, keeping accurate records of expenditure.

The role provides technical support for scenario based high fidelity simulation training and administrative support as required

Qualifications

Essential

* GCSE Maths, English or Equivalent 

Desirable

* Educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent

Experience

* Experience of working with IT packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook

* Experience of working in a busy environment

* Experience of working in healthcare
