Job summary

An exciting opportunity in the Adult Critical Care Coordination & Transfer Service - ACCOTS for a Band 7 Team Educator to join our West Midlands team.

The post holder will assume responsibility for the development, delivery, implementation and

monitoring of education and training within the ACCOTS service for the WM; whilst also

working as part of the clinical team to provide specialised care required to transfer critically ill adults.

The post holder will demonstrate expert specialised skill andknowledge in clinical practice, act as a professional role model, clinical leader and teacher, providingeffective mentorship and supervision.

Working collaboratively with the multi professional team, the post holder will act as a professional

role model, setting standards of practice and promoting clinical effectiveness. The post holder will

support and mentor new members of the multi professional team, demonstrating an active teaching

role in the ongoing education programmes and undertake the role of sign off assessor for the new

practitioners and medical staff.

There will be a requirement to work shifts including evenings and weekends and with service

evolvement to include nights.

There will be a requirement to work with highly infectious patients and therefore a necessity to

comply with infection, prevention and control guidance.

* Fixed term/ secondments may be considered however permanent employment is preferred.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The Band 7 Team Educator will be responsible for leading the training, education and development of practice for stabilisation and transfer of critically ill adult patients within the West Midlands ACCOTS Service.

The successful candidate will ensure that practitioners attending transfers are trained to deal with rare, unusual, and challenging situations which require novel solutions, promoting a set of attitudes and behaviours in the transfer team that helps them to respond positively to new challenges.

To be an expert, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality, ensuring the provision of high-quality evidence-based nursing care to patients and their families.

You will have experience in addressing practice concerns and escalate/ refer on or discuss with others as required in line with Trust Policy / Procedure and legislation.

You will assist the Lead Practitioner and Consultants in planning and delivering transfer training for medical / nursing staff in the critical care units within the West Midland Critical Care Operational Delivery Network.

To work collaboratively with the ACCOTS team educator in the East Midlands to ensure that training and education for transfer is uniform and consistent across both bases.

Qualifications

Essential

Current registration with NMC/ HCPC

Professional knowledge acquired

through degree supplemented by post

graduate/ Masters diploma level

specialist experience ,training or short

courses in Critical care

Successful completion of a recognised

critical care transfer course (Adult)

A recognised teaching and assessing

qualification including mentorship

course

ILS Competent

Evidence of ongoing dynamic

continuing professional education

within critical care.

Experience

Significant recent post registration

experience which includes
