Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of research data developers who play a key role creating research data assets from clinical and operational data.

The post-holder will be responsible for leading the data and analytics workstream supporting research data hubs. This will be include supporting the team in identifying data sources, understanding key data elements, maintaining the necessary documentation and ensuring standard operating procedures for extract, load and transform (ETL) are adhered to.

As the Principal Developer, the post-holder will be responsible for developing innovative and complex analytics taking into account a wide range of operational, strategic and policy issues.

The post-holder will also be required to lead and manage the Trust secure cloud platform(s) ensuring adherence to all the local and national security considerations.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

To lead the technical and data aspects of a project workstream, including managing junior staff.

To oversee, coordinate and contribute to the development of on-premesis and cloud-based data research platforms.

To maximise information held within data sets, including complex data management and manipulation

Strategic design and management of the health data warehouse.

To ensure standard operational procedures are followed and that cybersecurity and information governance risks are controlled.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

*Masters or PhD degree in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience working at a similar level in specialist area -- data science/ health economics/ statistics/analytics/operational research / mathematics.

*Evidence of relevant continued professional development

Experience

Essential

*Experience in the design management of data assets

*Experience of internet and cloud related technologies and the development of web based reports.

*Experience working with external and internal partners

*Demonstrable track record of developing analytics tools to address strategic, policy and operational issues

*Experience of interpreting and analysing complex information and presenting it in a simplified manner

*Experience of communicating with clinical or non-clinical staff.

*Experience of working within an organisation at a senior level including team management experience.

*Evidence of project work within the NHS

*Evidence of good written and oral presentation skills

*Evidence of developing team / others

Desirable

*Experience of and confidence in interacting with senior members of an organisation

*A broad understanding of NHS policies

*Knowledge of cloud platforms, in particular Azure IaaS/PaaS resources

*Experience with data integration tools including SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory
