This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic physiotherapist keen to progress their skills within stroke and neurology. This is a rare opportunity to join a team offering specialist band 6 neurological rotations across a variety of in and outpatient teams. Rotations include the acute stroke unit at BHH, neurology in reach at BHH, stroke early supported discharge teams and neurology outpatients (HONOR).
The right candidate will be someone who demonstrates leadership capability and a strong foundation in neurology. This role provides the opportunity to step into Band 6 responsibilities, with structured guidance and support. The candidate will be responsible for their own caseload with senior support.
This rotational post offers the opportunity to work with various MDTs and professions across acute and community settings. The post will allow the person to deliver high quality specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with stroke, spinal pathology, brain injuries and acute and progressive neurological conditions.
This role offers excellent CPD and training opportunities and offers regular supervision and strong leadership support.

To participate in 7 day working and respiratory on overnight calls
To work as a Band 6 rotational neuro physiotherapist across inpatient and outpatient stroke and neurological services.
To assess, treat and manage patients with stroke and a range of other neurological conditions, using evidence-based practice. Conditions will include stroke, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, persistent disorders of consciousness, progressive neurological conditions and autoimmune disorders.
To plan, implement, evaluate and progress individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes in line with patient goals.
To communicate effectively with patients who may have complex physical, cognitive and communication impairments, and with their carers as appropriate.
To work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) across inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
To supervise, support and contribute to the development of junior physiotherapy staff, therapy assistants, students and support workers, including delegation of tasks where appropriate.
To participate in clinical supervision, appraisal and personal development planning.
To attend and contribute to in-service training, CPD activities and service-based education programmes.
To work closely with senior therapy staff, seeking advice and guidance when required and contributing to specialist clinical decision-making.

*Diploma / degree in physiotherapy therapy.
*Current registration with Health Professions Council.
*A levels or equivalent qualification
*Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
*Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.
*Evidence of leadership training.
*Attendance at Clinical Educators Course.
*Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.
*Significant experience of working in a large complex organisation in a health care environment / acute hospital setting including acute hospital experience
*Evidence of Team /service development
*Supervision of students/assistants/Therapy Support Workers
*A specialist knowledge across a range of physiotherapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of physiotherapy
*Understanding of current legislation and application to Physiotherapy
*Neuro and/or stroke experience
*Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, co-ordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information
*An ability to prioritise and organise own workload
*An ability to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action
*An ability to work as part of an inter- disciplinary team
*IT skills -- computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint
*Demonstrate enthusiasm for the specialist area.
*Demonstrate a professional attitude.
*An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis.
*An ability to frequently concentrate on patient assessments and treatments.
*An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations.
*Able to contribute to weekend and evening service.
*Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within the clinical areas.
*Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
*Contribute to extended hours service/6/7 day working
*Ability to travel across all UHB Sites and to external sites if required
*Hold a driving licence
