Job summary

At UHB we are committed to developing our Nursing Associate workforce and we are looking for experienced enthusiastic nurses who have a proven committment to educating, supporting and managing clinical staff. Applicants will need to demonstrate sound knowledge of the Trainee Nursing Associate programme and the role of the Nursing Associate. If you have post registration experience with recent NHS experience in an acute practice area and formal and informal teaching, then why not come and join us. The post will involve working across sites at UHB, with some working across the seven day week. 

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will;

Support Trainee Nursing Associates and Nursing Associates regarding their clinical development, achievement of proficiencies and provide pastoral support.

Be a clinically credible practitioner who promotes innovation and up to date evidence based practice.

Collaborate with relevant teams to support the delivery of the Trainee Nursing Associate programme.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse on NMC Register with post registration experience

Educated to Degree level

Mentoring qualification or experience

Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential

Relevant and recent clinical experience of delivering specialist clinical care in a variety of practice settings including the supervision/ education of junior staff

Experience working at Band 6 level

Experience in delivering training/ education to or assessment of staff in clinical practice

Experience of managing changing priorities without supervision

Understanding of principles of practice based assessment / supervisor role associated with own professional standards of practice for learners

Leadership and management experience

Experience of being a mentor

Knowledge and understanding of a range of issues in respect to learning disability service and acute services across the NHS and NHS agenda

Knowledge of development to date with the Nursing Associate role

Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Mental capacity

Awareness of health and safety issues and how these relate to training in both simulation/ practice settings

Knowledge of NMC updates and requirements for training/ education/ supervision
