Band 6 Registered Health Care Practitioner/Research Nurse
Job summary
We wish to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic band 6 health care practitioner or research nurse to assist in the co-ordination and delivery of clinical trials within the 24/7 clinical research delivery team for "unplanned admissions" (including ED/Acute Trauma/ Burns/Critical Care and Stroke).
The 24/7 clinical research service was first established in 2013, the first of its kind in the UK, as part of the NIHR Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre; trauma does not occur just during working hours. Over the last 10 years the service has grown including additional specialties, most recently stroke. Now is an exciting time to join the team as we refresh our strategy/direction for the next 5-10 years.
The research nurse will be part of a team of a dynamic nursing, allied health professional and administration team running a 24/7 service. The post-holder will work with consultants and clinical trial staff in order to recruit to and deliver on a wide range of studies.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
Qualifications: - HCPC or NMC Registration. Educated to degree level or diploma level plus relevant experience to degree level.
Experience: - Experience of research in a healthcare setting. Understanding of current legislation regarding research governance Issues. Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration. Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality/acute care setting.
Knowledge: - Displays genuine interest in the post applied for and can articulate this when questioned. Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD.
Communication Skills: - Demonstrate achievement of numeracy (including drug administration calculations) and literacy skills. Ability to read/write and speak, receive and understand instructions in English.
Clinical Skills: - Competent in a range of clinical skills willingness to undertake expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required.
Information Management: - Good IT skills ability to record information electronically.
Flexibility: - Ability to work a varied shift pattern, including nights/weekends unsocial hours where required.
