This post will take a key role in leadership and development and delivery of a patient focused Post covid pathway across the Birmingham and Solihull ICB. You will work alongside Consultant Colleagues, Specialist Occupational therapists, Dietitians , Speech and Language therapists, Therapy support workers as well as colleagues in Community and Third sector services as part of our dynamic system wide Post Covid recovery team

Post Covid is a new and emerging area of practice. There are opportunities to develop your expertise, research and quality improvement skills with training available to support your development.

As the Covid situation hopefully minimises it is expected that this role will in time transition to a specialist rehabilitation role leading service provision with long term conditions requiring rehabilitation support.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The Birmingham and Solihull Post Covid Service has been in place since January 2021. The service has evolved during this time period and continues to develop and transition as Post Covid research and clinical practice develops.

You will work aspart of a dynamic and supportive team including team specialist therapists, nurses and Consultants. You will lead on expert assessment and intervention, develop the service and evaluate and implement timely changes..

You will have an advanced level of specialist skills, knowledge and experience to support rehabilitation in long term conditions and adapt and individualise your treatments to clinical need. You will, have excellent communication skills. Significant experience in education and training of others will be required. .

Clinical work is across a variety of settings including outpatients, home, working with individuals and groups with complex needs both remotely and in person and some in-patient work.

Highly developed leadership skills and a strategic, multidisciplinary approach with enthusiasm and strong interest in research and a developing service are essential.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

Good standard of general education including

GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

A levels or equivalent qualification

Appropriate Physiotherapy or professional qualification e.g. MCSP/ BSc or MSc.

CSP or equivalent professional registration.

MSc in relevant subject or working at "M" level as demonstrated by ongoing CPD

Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within own speciality, e.g. post registration training, management competencies and evidence of a detailed personal development portfolio.

Current professional registration with the HCPC

Experience

Essential

Extensive post registration experience of which significant years have been in an acute NHS organisation.

Significant experience as a clinical leader including direct clinical supervision of staff.

Significant experience in education and clinical training of others. Teaching experience to uni and multi-professional groups with evidence of ability to deliver high quality presentations

Significant experience of clinical/service evaluation

Advanced knowledge and skill in the advanced assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical presentations relating to the Covid patient

Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Awareness of current evidence in Covid recovery pathways linked to physiotherapy and application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.

Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession

Significant experience in the development and performance management of physiotherapists and students
