Job summary

We are expanding our Senior Nursing team in the Emergency Department at Good Hope Hospital. This is an opportunity to join a growing team, dedicated to delivering compassionate person-centred care and to play a key role in innovation and transformation. The workload throughout the department is varied and interesting with no two days being the same. The successful candidate must be dynamic, have excellent leadership and communication skills, excellent clinical skills, have a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork. Experience of working in an acute setting would be preferable but not essential.

We have a dedicated clinical education team to support all our staff and allow you to build on your existing nursing skills for your future career and development within Emergency Nursing.

We have full and part time position available and offer a range of long and short days and support flexible working.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The Role of a band 6 within the Emergency Department is that of delivering high quality nursing care to all of our patients. You will take responsibility for ensuring the coordination of the Emergency Department runs smoothly with a dedicated Band 7 team to support you.

This role is looking for dynamic, forward thinking leaders who have experience working autonomously and in a team. Being competent in a range of clinical skills; having the willingness to learn, having excellent leadership and communication skills is also essential for a band 6 in ED.

Essential

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register 

Desirable

Health care management / leadership qualification

Experience

Essential

Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice
