The Decontamination team is expanding and the role will be supporting theatre with development of their surgical instrument trays.

In return you will be expected to provide an excellent customer focused service for very busy theatres and our patients.

The role will require you to manually process and test Flexible's scopes (manual dexterity is required on these types of Medical devices), operate endoscopy washer disinfector machines, use a software tracking system, undertake physical exertion such as prolong standing some bending/lifting and deliver clean scopes to some clinical areas using storage cabinets.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

You will be reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated, understand the importance of excellent customer service/team working. You will put into practice the training you receive which will be specific to the role and includes infection control and how the flexible scope/medical devices are designed and used. You will have regular contact with clinical colleagues and be a good ambassador by demonstrating Trust values at all times, showing empathy and respecting confidentiality.

The Decontamination Technicians post is 37.5 hours; all Technicians are rostered to work Saturday and Sundays. The Decontamination Technician is required to carry out the full duties in the Central Endoscopy Decontamination unit which is monitored by our Quality Standard and may be required work across site's. This is an exciting opportunity to develop new skills and to offer a vital service to all clinical areas. The CEDU is a newly refurbished unit in a busy environment due to increased activity for Flexible scopes.

If you have endoscopy decontamination experience or experience working in a clean room environment then this would be an advantage. If no previous skills and you wish to join a dynamic team then full training and development will be delivered. The unit is open from 7.30 am until 8pm and will require flexibility in working between these hours with Saturday / Sunday working as part of the rota
