We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a 1.0wte Head and Neck Dietitian. This is open as Band 6 or as a transitional post for a Band 5 to work towards a Band 6 as part of a competency framework.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Dietitian who enjoys team working and has experience in nutrition support and enteral feeing to lead the Head and Neck team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (University Hospitals Birmingham). This is the regional head and neck centre in the West Midlands and covers both inpatients and outpatients focusing supporting head and neck cancer surgery, rehabilitation following radiotherapy, palliation, and late effects. This caseload will also include non-cancer ENT and maxillo facial patients.

The successful candidate should work well in a MDT and strives for a high level of excellence and will be involved in audits and research to improve patient care.

The dietetic department at QEHB has a robust CPD program, and is committed to providing excellent line management, supervision/support, specialist training and other forms of continuous professional development.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

This caseload includes an inpatient and out patient caseload, including MDT clinics and home enteral feeding. We have a close working relationship with other MDT members and therefore joint assessments with clinical nurse specialists and speech and language therapists are encouraged. The successful candidate will also be expected to regular MDTs and ward rounds.

The successful candidate will also be involved in audits and projects while in post with the aim of presenting the data at conferences.

The successful candidate will help support Dietetic Assistants and student and will be supported by an experienced Head and Neck Dietitian

Qualifications

Essential

*Evidence of relevant GCSE, NVQ, GNVQ, AS and A levels

*Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent

*Registration with HCPC

Experience

*Post-graduate experience relevant to post

*Teaching skills including supervisory skills for student training

*Relevant post registration experience at entry to post

*All types of nutritional support

*Evidence of multi-disciplinary team work

* In depth knowledge of nutritional assessment / nutritional screening tools

*Up to date with clinical developments, with evidence of contributions to clinical meetings / journal clubs

Desirable
