Job summary

Solihull Special Care Dental Service (Community Services) provides dental care for people of all ages with additional needs (Special Care Dentistry).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dental Receptionist to join our friendly dental team who are committed to providing a service of high quality dental care to patients with additional needs.

This post is a permanent contract, working part time (26 hours) and the required days of working are: Monday all day, Tuesday all day, Thursday all day and Friday AM only.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The base for this post will be at Smiths Wood Dental Clinic in the North of the Borough. You will also be required to travel to other Dental Clinics within the Borough as and when required.

Holder of full driving license and use of a car is Essential.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for staff, patients, carers and visitors and will need to have excellent communication skills, be courteous and able to project a positive and friendly image at all times.

To work flexibly within a friendly Special Care Community Dental Team providing high quality dental care for a wide spectrum of patients including adults, children, patients/clients with additional needs, challenging behaviour and medically compromised patients.

As a highly motivated and pro-active member of the team, you will carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the dental clinic. Providing a range of administration duties to support the department, to ensure effective processing of patient information. Responsible for the effective running of the reception area within the dental clinic and for supporting the clinical team with a range of administrative tasks including arranging appointments for all dental patients. Excellent I.T skills are essential.

Qualifications

Essential

*Typing/Computer studies NVQ 3 level or equivalent

*5 GCSE's or equivalent including English & maths

Desirable

*Dental receptionist course certificates

*Previous Dental employment

Experience

Essential

*Experience of management of appointments and accurate handling of cash, receipts and banking procedures.

*Experience of Receptionist work

*Knowledge of I.T systems (Microsoft products)

Desirable

*Experience of working in a dental environment and using a dental software package

*Knowledge of Carestream R4 computer system

*Knowledge of Excel

Additional Criteria

Essential

*Ability to travel between sites, to meet the needs of the service. Therefore it is essential that you hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
