Job summary

A band 5 scrub practitioner (Nurse/ODP/Podiatrist) is required to work within our small but dynamic community Podiatric Surgery department. Scrub experience is desirable but not essential as training can be provided. We also provide outpatient clinics and post operative dressing clinics.

Work alongside our clinical team Monday to Friday, no on-calls. Free car parking.

2 long days a week are required to support theatre (07:30 - 18:30).

Main duties, tasks & skills required

1. To be responsible for reporting clinical incidents and complaints, ensuring the process is communicated appropriately.

2. To ensure defined levels of responsibility and role boundaries set with junior staff are adhered to, providing adequate opportunities for them to develop their role.

3. Ensure theatre and out-patient environment and processes reflect the changing needs of the service.

4. Supervise junior members of the nursing team in clinical environment, this includes facilitating a culture of continuing professional and practice development.

5. Promote a positive working environment.

Qualifications

Essential

* L6 (Degree) trained Nurse / ODP / Podiatrist

* Current, unrestricted and active registration with the NMC or HCPC

* GCSE Maths, English & Science

Experience

Essential

* Current or recent experience of working in a theatre environment

* Ability to assess patient condition, interpret problems and determine appropriate timely course of action within clinical and theatre environment. e.g. liaising with surgeon to determine whether patient fit to proceed to surgery should there be a deterioration in peri-operative stage

* Ability to assist surgeons and supervise Junior staff

* Maintain written and computer based Records
