Job summary

Following the creation of a new senior Estates leadership team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic business professional at University Hospitals Birmingham in a new role as Associate Director of Strategic Business and Compliance Planning to develop their career at the largest healthcare trust in the country in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

You will create and lead a team of professional staff and be responsible for developing and implementing business and governance systems for the Estates Directorate across all of our acute sites.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

You will be the Trust's lead for all Estates business and compliance matters including financial planning, capital and revenue finance, cost improvement initiatives and performance reporting across a range of indicators. You will drive efficiency and quality systems process to ensure Estates services are performing at an optimal level to support healthcare delivery.

Working with a wide range of staff groups both within the Trust and its external partners, you will communicate complex technical matters and provide strategic leadership to the organisation.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will work closely with the Director of Operational Estates and senior leadership team to introduce an integrated approach for the directorate across all sites, identify opportunities for change and efficient ways of working, develop clear investment strategies and workforce plans for the future.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to minimum of degree masters level in business management administration, finance, a project discipline or equivalent experience

Evidence of personal development in the profession and as a manager through formal study (short courses) or continuing personal development.

Member of a relevant professional body or equivalent to fulfil lead professional roles

Appropriate Project Management qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Extensive experience in relevant Business or Projects Disciplines and operational estates, e.g. understanding of HTM's, HBN's

Extensive experience in the management and delivery of a complex overall business planning programme

Engagement and experience in change management processes

Experience of asset management in a complex environment

Leading and delivering innovation and value management in Estates, Capital developments, and asset utilisation

Development of strategy and credible and successful implementation

Extensive knowledge of key areas of capital Development (technical, procurement, contracts, innovation, financial, value management)

Experience of continuous improvement methodologies

Specialist knowledge to fulfil lead professional roles as appropriate or able to undertake and complete appropriate training where required
