Job summary

The BSOL Procurement Collaborative (BSOL PC), hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) provides procurement and supply chain services to UHB; Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. BSOL PC is a NHS Shared Procurement Service, supporting the National direction of an Integrated Care System (ICS) across the region.

The procurement team plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high quality patient care whilst ensuring value for money is achieved. We are looking to recruit a pro-active, self motivated and ambitious Category Manager, this role will be based at the BSOL PC offices in Birmingham, however would require working at any of the BSOL PC sites when required.

The Category Manager post is a key role in our organisation, who will interface with various stakeholders at all BSOL PC Trusts. You will be responsible for developing/implementing methodologies to facilitate and monitor contracts. You will effectively manage the internal operations/ resources to enable the delivery of saving targets and work-plans. You will be expected to build and maintain professional relationships, implement change and enable the Procurement Department to continuously improve the service delivered to stakeholders. The main category area for this role is Facilities Management / Professional Services.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Support the HOP to deliver the BSOL/ICS Corporate Procurement Service by;

The development /implementation of methodologies to facilitate/monitor contracts

Manage the internal operations and resources to enable the delivery of the saving targets and work-plans

Build professional relationships, implement change, support and enable procurement to continuously improve the service delivered to its stakeholders

Be experienced in the delivery of corporate procurement categories and contract management

Identify corporate projects and contribute to the procurement work-plan

Develop close working relationships with the relevant Stakeholders

Conduct contract negotiations, utilising well-prepared analysis, adopting appropriate strategic negotiation methodology to overcome barriers to acceptance and achieve the best possible outcome

Identify key risk areas and ensure that these are managed, reported and controlled

Participate in collaborative initiatives at local, regional or national level

Provide professional advice and support to others in the team and hold Line Management responsibilities

Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively. Be able to work independently with little supervision as well as being part of a team

Be responsible for own continuous development in areas of professional and technical competencies, influence and deliver your annual appraisal objectives

Ideally be working towards or hold CIPS Level 4 Graduate Diploma

* Degree level or relevant equivalent experience
