Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team within University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be cross site working and heavily involved in the coordination and running of Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes across our hospital and community venues.

The post is open to applicants with the relevant skills to join our Multi-disciplinary team of Physiotherapists Occupational Therapists and Respiratory nurse specialists, support workers and admin staff. The team fosters a strong emphasis on collaborative working to promote exercise and wellbeing to patients with chronic respiratory conditions in a variety of settings.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Candidates need to have the relevant experience and be highly motivated. The post holders will have excellent communication and IT skills, a flexible approach and the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team across multiple agencies. Excellent organisational and time management skills are also essential.

Although service delivery is 5 days a week, the post holder is expected to support the future plan of a 7 day rota.

The role requires the post holder to be a car driver with use of a vehicle for business purposes.

Qualifications

Essential

Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths

Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English

Educated to A Level / NVQ 3/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g NVQ 2 or similar vocational qualification PLUS experience working in a care setting)

Care certificate or be willing to work towards this

Experience

Experience of dealing with people

Experience of working in a team

Can demonstrate a broad understanding of relevant areas of therapy, the effect of illness/critical conditions / disability on function and health and basic aims of rehabilitation
