Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our teams on our chemotherapy day units for E1A and CCH. We have vacancies on the oncology day unit (E1A) and the hematology day unit (CCH) based at QEHB.
We are looking for someone who wants to increase their Oncology/ Hematology experience and wants to work within this rewarding environment.
On the oncology treatment suite E1A we also we administer a range of Systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) including ambulatory chemotherapy. We provide supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families throughout a cancer diagnosis. A peripherally inserted central catheter service is also provided. The unit also supports treatment for the teenage and young adult's specialist group (TYA) for Oncology and Hematology Patients.
At CCH, we care for patients with a range of hematology disorders who are receiving systemic anti-cancer treatment and supportive therapies. We administer a range of Systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) including ambulatory and intrathecal chemotherapy, run an ambulatory stem cell transplant programme, blood product support and other supportive therapies. We also run a daily outpatient clinic and phlebotomy service.
We aim to provide an individualised and supportive environment for patients. In each area you will be supported by a nursing leadership team who are present and will help you develop your skills to reach your full potential.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
On both E1A and CCH we care for patients throughout their pathway, undergoing diagnostic, curative and palliative procedures including the management of symptoms related to their treatments or their disease process. Both areas administer Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapies and supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey. Your role will be varied and you will be able to gain clinical skills such as triage, cannulation, venepuncture and central line care and SACT administration. If you have cannulation, phlebotomy, or central lines skills it will be an advantage, but if not, then you should have enthusiasm and dexterity to develop these skills.
