Job summary

This exciting new role is an ideal opportunity for an introduction to operations management across four busy acute hospital sites. The successful candidate will be required to work autonomously, supporting the Lead Nurses for Site Integrity with day to day operational issues as well as line manage the site coordinators across the Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham Heartlands and Good Hope hospitals. The successful candidate will also be required to support the development of digital solutions to manage patient flow and use data to suggest service improvements.

Applicants should display enthusiasm for working between divisions and supporting cohesive relationships to improve site integrity.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

To provide operational management support for the Clinical Site Management team across UHB.

The service manager will provide business and managerial support to the Lead Nurses for Site Integrity in order that the activity, quality and financial objectives of the clinical site management team are met. The service manager will also directly line manage the site coordination team (BHH and GHH) and divisional capacity managers (QE).

The service manager will ensure accurate information is available and recorded monitoring the implementation of any agreed actions which need to be undertaken to ensure that targets are met. They will work under their own initiative with minimal guidance, manage and perform audits and co-ordinate projects that require excellent planning and organisational skills.

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE in English and Maths

Degree or equivalent professional management qualification

Further management training and/or relevant managerial experience to post graduate diploma level

Experience

Previous experience of working to NHS key performance and national standards

Experience in handling confidential information

Previous line management experience of staff
