Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse - AMU/MAU
Job summary
This is an amazing opportunity to gain experience for a dynamic, innovative and forward thinking senior band 5 with Acute Medical experience, to work alongside our senior team in order to gain valuable experience in band 6 responsibilities and duties. With a flexible thinking approach to nursing, you will be expected to work clinically, supporting junior members of staff, and also coordinate both units. The unit is an integral front door service closely linked to the ED and Short stay ward it is a very fast paced environment.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
You will gain exposure to all areas with full support. You will learn how to coordinate a shift ensuring capacity and flow are paramount while also ensuring quality and safety are maintained. You will learn how to support the team from a senior point, including safety, quality, safe staffing.
To support the development and implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives to support management team.

*Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Desirable
*Health care management / leadership qualification
Experience
Essential
*Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
*Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
*Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council ( NMC ) standards for student supervision and assessment
*Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
*Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
*Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
*Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
*Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
