Job summary

UHB has an exciting offer for former Adult Registered Nurses who wish to return to practice via the NMC test of competence.

We are seeking to appoint staff into across our cancer service departments in: diagnostics, treatment & in-patients across all 4 of our main hospital sites Queen Elizabeth Edgbaston, Good Hope, Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals.

UHB are offering successful candidates an initial Band 4 Pre-Registration contract at minimum of 30 -- 37.5 hours per s per week, whilst you undertake your 6 week NMC OSCE Preparation Programme, the final hurdle to full registration and return to practice. .

*2 funded attempts to pass your OSCE

*Transport to & from the OSCE test centre

*Dedicated Clinical Educator support

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Applicants must first submit evidence that they have passed the NMC CBT and arrange a review of their return to practice application with Thomas.Dempsey@uhb.nhs.uk

You will then be invited to apply and those shortlisted will be called to an interview typically conducted via video.

Our OSCE test of competence preparation programme is run every 6 weeks and both return to practice nurses and international nurses will undergo face to face teaching and preparation in our Edgbaston based centre at Attwood Green.

During the OSCE preparation programme all candidates will have to attend for a minimum of 30 hours per week -- following the preparation programme candidates will join their clinical practice setting and may reduce their hours following discussion with their line manager.

Following completion of your OSCE you will transition from the Band 4 pay scale to a permanent Band 5 post as a Staff Nurse/ Theatre Practitioner .

We will aim to match your prior skills knowledge and experience to our current vacancies in diagnostic, treatment & in-patient practice settings

Following your return to practice you will be able to undertake additional continuing professional development appropriate to your need via our School of Nursing, Midwifery and AHP's'

Qualifications

*Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register

*Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

Experience

Essential

*Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months )

*Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence

*Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others

*Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment

*Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct

*Understanding of preceptorship and work based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge

*Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context

*Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity

*Awareness of health and safety issues
