Excellent opportunities are now available for both enthusiastic newly qualified or experienced Registered Nurses to be part of our ever developing Day Case & Short Stay Surgical Units and the Infusion Suite across the Queen Elizabeth Hospital; University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).

Our Day Surgery areas and the Infusion Suite at UHB are both exciting and dynamic units to be a part of where our Trust values are at the forefront of everything we do. Areas of opportunity:

Previous experience is not necessary as we will offer a supportive and tailored development program with a dedicated mentor and practice development team on commencement of post.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Within the Day Case areas you would be managing your own caseload of patients, both pre and post operatively.

You will complete a nurse led admission for your group of patients and you must be able to communicate effectively to gain a detailed medical history in order to provide a safe pathway to theatre and discharge.

You will be required to work flexibly within the team in a dynamic and changeable environment which can evolve throughout the day with competing demands and post-operative requirements.

Within the Infusion Suite you shall be managing patients who require treatment on Site.

We want to find Nurses with excellent communication skills to link our team with the wider multidisciplinary services involved in our patient's pathway. We are looking for individuals who are not afraid to advocate for our patients and to build up a rapport in a time where they can feel anxious and uncertain about their procedure.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC 

Experience

Essential

Previous or recent experience of working in an acute secondary NHS care setting, can include student placements within the last 12 months
Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/competence
Experience of working on your own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision
Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council standards for student supervision and assessment 

Additional Criteria

Demonstrate achievement of numeracy and literacy skills, which include drug administration calculations
Ability to read/write and speak, receive and understand instructions in English
Good IT skills ability to record information electronically
Competent in a range of clinical skills and willingness to undertake expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required
Professional appearance
Display genuine interest in the post applied for and can articulate this when questioned
Positive and enthusiastic attitude
Ability to communicate articulately with others
Caring and approachable
Punctual and reliable
Ability to work a varied shift pattern including nights/weekends/unsocial hours where required
Describe why the Trust may deploy you to a different practice setting for a span of duty
