Senior Dietitian (Band 6 or Band 5 to 6 development post)

The closing date is 28th Mar 2023

Job summary

Are you are an experienced Band 5 or an established Band 6 looking for your next challenge?

Following a service review in our dietetic department we have a number of exciting job opportunities to develop your career which include roles in Acute Medicine, Healthcare of Older People and Stroke, Surgery as well as Specialist Medicine which incorporates respiratory and infectious diseases.

You will be working as part of a friendly supported team structure with a skill mixed dietetic team. Each speciality team has a Band 7 dietetic leader to support you and provide guidance in developing your leadership and management skills which in turn could fast track your options for future career progression.

In addition to leadership skills and clinical caseload you will have the opportunity to lead on audits and quality improvement projects to improve patient care delivery.

Alongside the senior colleagues within our teams we also have a wealth of specialist dietetic staff across our friendly dietetic department that support shadowing opportunities and clinical supervision. Your development is very important to us and encouragement will be given to support you to thrive in this role.

Applicants will ideally have experience; however this post does offer the opportunity for both experienced Band 5 dietitians looking for a new challenge at Band 6 level and graduate dietitians looking for a development role with a set of competencies which require completion.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

You must have experience in an acute NHS hospital setting and a good knowledge of nutrition support is essential.

The day to day tasks will differ; therefore if you have experience of close multi-professional working, excellent communication and time management skills these posts are great platforms on which to continue to build your dietetic career and are not to be missed!

An integral part of the role will involve developing your specialist dietetic skills as well as assisting with supervision of Band 5 dietitians, therapy support workers and students.

Organisation, flexibility and an ability to problem solve and apply clinical reasoning effectively are essential as you will be working in a fast-paced and busy environment, across hospital sites.

If you are a motivated and driven individual who is keen to contribute to the development of our dietetic department we look forward to receiving your application!

The Trust is committed to providing a 7 day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.

The Trust is a multi-site organisation, you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and you may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis, as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services.

We would support applicants looking for part time or full time hours.
