OPD Dermatology has multiple exciting opportunities for a Band 5 nurse to join our dedicated team.
We have a number of posts available within our Solihull Department.
1 is permanent and 1 is for a 12-month fixed term contract.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic individuals with an interest in Dermatology nursing to join our well-established team of staff. You will become part of a dedicated team who cover a wide range of specialities including skin surgery, light therapy, cutaneous allergy testing and nurse led therapies including nurse led biopsy clinics and wound management clinics, along with ensuring that an effective and high-quality service is delivered to all patients.
As a band 5 you will work within your own initiative as well as being a valuable team player, enjoying the challenges of a busy outpatient department. You must be enthusiastic and motivated with excellent communication skills and have a commitment to provide exceptional patient care.

Carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring high quality current evidence-based care underpins all actions and interactions with patients.
Be responsible for completing/ undertaking relevant nursing/ clinical procedures and practice underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
Use up to date knowledge and evidence to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence changes and promote health and best practice. The individual must make person centred, evidence-based judgements in partnership with others involved in the care process to ensure high quality care
Act as advocate for patients, to ensure a patient focused approach to the delivery of care
Ensure patients receive high quality clinical care and a positive patient experience, having regard to their customs, beliefs and ethnicity
Promote a clean and safe environment for staff, patients and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation /policies and procedures, health care associated infection prevention, governance including risk management and incident reporting and act without delay in the reporting and escalating of any areas of concern
Ensure accurate, legible and timely documentation relating to all aspects of patients care and treatment both papers based and electronically
Undertake a range of physical observations appropriate to the individual's scope of practice using a range of equipment, recording, reporting and escalating findings and concerns

*Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level leading to Professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register i.e. ( Adult / Child / Learning Disability or Mental Health)
*Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses / or post graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post registration experience
*Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months)
*Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
* Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post graduate practice

*Listening -- writing -- reading -- speaking in English with understanding of contemporaneous record keeping
*Good IT skills ability to record information electronically
*Competent in a range of clinical skills/ nursing procedures willingness to undertake expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice require
*Competent in managing the care of a group of patients / shift management (take charge of the practice setting in the absence of more senior staff) relevant to the practise setting.
